If the rake race starts on the first of the month you should try and make sure that you have the entire month open to play poker in your spare time. There are some very generous prizes to be won if you can finish in the top 5-10 positions in a rake race so you should make sure you commit yourself for a full month rather then only the first couple weeks every month so that you have a shot at winning.

One way to ensure that you’re going to have a shot at winning race is to multi-table whenever you’re playing poker. If you haven’t multi-tabled in the past you should read some strategy on how to successfully move into playing more then one table. When you multi-table you’ll be able to earn 2x-3x-4x… the amount you would normally earn in rakeback. One thing that plays a big role in how much rakeback you’re going to earn is your table selection skills. You need to make sure you play on tables where the average pot size is bigger then an average table.

With most rake races you will be able to see a leaderboard of the top earners for the race which will help you find out how much poker you’re going to need to play to have a chance at winning. Since rake races start every month you should spend the first month taking a look at the different rake races to find out which ones have an easier leaderboard too beat. If you can find a small rake race with a small poker room then you might have a better shot at winning then if you played a rake race with one of the major poker rooms.
